Tommie Adams, 55, lives just a few blocks from Anacostia Park in Washington, D.C., but he's originally from Omaha, Nebraska, where most of his family still lives. Usually, Tommie makes it back to see them at least twice a year. However, since the start of the pandemic, he hasn’t felt safe making the trip back home.

In an effort to make up for lost time with his brother and sister, Tommie began waking up early for morning walks, while video chatting with his siblings on his phone. Tommie treks along the Anacostia River in Anacostia Park, while his siblings walk in their neighborhoods in Omaha. “I don’t remember a time in our adult lives when we have connected pretty much every day,” says Tommie. He calls their daily walks, “PPP”– Positive Power of the Pandemic.
